Great graphic design is the secret super power behind many content creators. However, for many content creators, graphic design is either too time consuming to tackle or too expensive when outsourced to professional designers. Luckily, Canva has made creating your own custom designs much easier. In this tutorial, our team of design experts will cover how to create a paper cut effect in Canva.
How to Create a Paper Cut Effect in Canva
1. Search for Paper Background Under Photos
Go to ‘Photos’ and search for ‘Paper’. You can choose your choice of paper effect and make it fit on the screen.
2. Design Base Layer for Paper Cut Effect
Go to ‘Element’ and find an abstract effect of your choice. This will be our base for the paper cut effect.
3. Select Sticker for Paper Cut Effect
Choose any other sticker elements for applying the paper cut effect. Here we are using ‘Marine’ stickers to create the effect. Place the elements as your requirements and change their color to white. Download the image in PNG form.
4. Download Image with Black Background and Remove White Image 1
After downloading the image, duplicate the page and change the background color and the element color to black. And download the image with Black background. Remove the white from image 1 and upload it.
5. Align Images
Then place the white-removed image on the original first image. Try to place it precisely and download it again in PNG form.
6. Blur Black Background Image
Add a new page and use a black background image and blur it a little bit.
7. Upload and Position PNG File Over Background
Upload the last downloaded PNG Image and place it over the black background image precisely using the alignment option. It will help you have a depth effect on the image. You can adjust the edges for giving it more depth.
