How to Create Your Own Element in Canva
1. Open New Canva Design
Open a new Canva design page.
2. Add Design Elements to Canva Sheet
Next, add the design elements from Canva to your new design. Each of these objects will be fully customizable (both shapes and text).
3. Save Design as SVG File
After you’ve finished making your custom element design, save your Canva design as an SVG file, with a transparent background.
4. Upload Your SVG File
Upload your SVG file in Canva and it will be similar to a vector file.
5. Locate Your SVG File
Your SVG File should now appear under your Uploaded Files section.
6. Click on Uploaded SVG File From Uploads Section to Add to Your Design
Next, you need to click on the thumbnail of your SVG file, which should now appear under the Uploaded Files section on the left-hand side of your screen. This will add the SVG file (which looks like the original design) to your current design screen.
7. Click on Newly Added Custom Element
If you click on your uploaded custom Canva element, and then click on the color boxes on the top toolbar, you can change the color of each individual layer of your design (both shapes and text)!
